Enabler

As a mother of a recovering addict, my biggest issue was being an enabler. If you’ve been in my shoes, when did you know it was time to stop?

Hi Olivia, Thank you for sharing this. As a parent, wanting to protect your child comes from love, and recognizing that some of your help may be hurting is a difficult thing to face. Setting boundaries doesn’t mean you stop loving or supporting them. You deserve support and peace, too. For the parents here who’ve faced this: what helped you recognize the difference between supporting recovery and enabling, and what was the first boundary you set?
